FRIENDS OF SANGAM FOUNDATION Sangam School is governed by Sanagam Foundation, a non-profit educational organisation registered in Haryana Province, India. Friends of Sangam Foundation (FOSF) is a charitable company registered in England and Wales (Companies House number 4627919) and is also a Charity registered by the Charity Commission (number 1098382). FOSF was founded in 2003 by a group of supporters many of whom had been collecting funds and otherwise supporting Sangam School for several years. They were (and still are) led by Eleanor Nesbitt, a long-time supporter of the Sangam School, having taught with Kamla Sawhney. Eleanor now works at the University of Warwick, and and is a member of Coventry Quaker Meeting. Information about her may be seen on the University web site Also in the team are: Stephen Petter, retired, a Quaker (currently a member of Bristol Area Quaker Meeting) details of whom can be obtained from his web site. Stephen worked as a volunteer teacher of English at Sangam School in December 2001, and says he was so inspired by the vision of the foundation, the school, its dedicated teachers, and its bright, eager and thoroughly delightful pupils that he resolved to help with fundraising and the maintenance of this web site. He serves as Administrator and also Company Secretary. David Fish, a medical worker, is the Treasurer of FOSF. William Waddilove, a Training Manager, is the Newsletter Editor for FOSF and he also produced the Appeal leaflet in January 2008. Like Eleanor Nesbitt, both William and David are members of Coventry Quaker Meeting. Other Directors / Trustees of FOSF are: Joy Barrow, Hugh Boulter, Trupti Edwards, Jo Hallett, Clare Barnett, and Carole Taylor. The primary purpose of FOSF is to support Sangam School. FOSF meets about three quarters of the costs of Sangam School. Members of FOSF also visit the school (at their own expense) to discuss its problems and needs, and sometimes to serve as voluntary teachers or teacher trainers. None of the members of Sangam Foundation and FOSF draw any income from their positions in these organisations, and almost all expenses are met outwith these organisations' funds. More information on FOSF can be found on the websites of Companies House and the Charity Commission, and also in the above links and those on the Latest News page.
